Hygiene Training
Hygiene training can be provided in a variety of different formats to suit the individual. Training solutions can be delivered by either a taught programme, distance learning or a combination of the two. Bactrol holds the CIEH Trainer's Charter which means that the programmes delivered are required to confirm to the high standards laid down by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health. These standards have been established in order to provide trainees with a high quality training programme which is enjoyable, informative and geared to equip them to perform effectively in their workplace.

CIEH Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
The programme is aimed at all staff who handle food and it is recommended that staff are provided with this training shortly after employment commences. The programme covers all key elements essential to hygiene. The programme concludes with a multiple choice (tick box) test. Assistance can be provided to candidates with reading difficulties. Successful candidates receive the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.

CIEH Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate
This programme is applicable to all food businesses and should be regarded as essential for all staff who have responsibility for overseeing operations or supervising the work of others. It covers similar elements to the basic programme but goes into more detail in areas such as contamination. It all covers supervisory management which helps supervisors to ensure that their organisation's hygiene policies are being properly implemented. A two and a half hour structured test completes the programme and successful candidates receive the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate. In addition to a straight 'Pass,' exceptional candidates may be awarded a Credit Pass, which is denoted on the certificate.

CIEH Advanced Food Hygiene Certificate
This programme is aimed at individuals who have a key roll in the management of food hygiene. It is especially suitable for owner/managers to managers who have input into hygiene in larger food businesses. The programme provides detailed knowledge and worked examples of how to tackle some of the key issues facing managers, including: training, pest control, setting and implementing hygiene policies and monitoring standards. In addition to the taught sessions, candidates have to complete two project questions and a written examination. Successful candidates receive the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate. In addition to a straight 'Pass,' exceptional candidates may be awarded a Credit Pass, which is denoted on the certificate.

Hygiene Refresher Training
Refresher training is an essential part of all food handlers' individual training plans. Food handlers need to be regularly updated to keep them aware of current trends, changes in best practice and changes in regulations. Bactrol offers a variety of refresher programmes to suit individual training needs. Refresher training modules range from 1 to 3 hours. On completion of the training, candidates are asked to complete a short validation exercise after which they receive the appropriate certificate.

Bespoke Training Programmes
If your organisation requires a training solution to deal with a specific situation, then Bactrol can develop bespoke training solutions.

Safe Handling of Chemicals Training (COSHH Training)
Most food handlers come into contact or work in the close proximity of a variety of chemicals - e.g. food ingredients, cleaning materials and pest control agents. It is important that employees are properly trained in the correct handling of chemicals and this programme covers the basics of risk assessment, hazard identification, personal protective equipment, first aid and storage. On completion of the training, candidates are asked to complete a short validation exercise after which they receive the appropriate certificate.
